Katie’s art practice is grounded in transdisciplinary research and her current work is within the framework of Social Sculpture. She is driven by a fundamental interest in people and society in their everyday contexts. With a particular interest in the relationship between humans and technology, Katie is curios about human’s existential navigation of the rapidly changing world of work. She questions the possible entropic/negentropic outcomes due to advances in robotics and artificial intelligence. The focus of her practice has been on haptic perception, our automaticity and the human hand as technology, and more recently on the spatial and physical reality of our digital culture. Both artworks realised for her BA and MA degree shows were long+shortlisted for the prestigious RDS Visual Art Awards.
Katie has a keen interest in current discourse regarding the ontological turn in anthropology and indigenous ways of being and knowing.

In 2022 Katie was privileged to work as a mediator with the Ireland At Venice Team, Temple Bar Gallery & Studios and artist, Niamh O’Malley representing Ireland at La Biennale Da Venezia with her beguiling work Gather.
